Our Approach
The best way to nurture curious, creative thinkers is to begin with a foundation of knowledge. We design ambitious, memorable and engaging lessons to achieve this, building confidence and challenging the children.
English
Reading is the gateway to knowledge. Once a child can read fluently and independently, they widen their world.
Maths
Children have opportunities to apply and develop their mathematical knowledge and understanding through a variety of classroom activities and, where appropriate, in other areas of the curriculum.
Science
We see Science as an essential discipline for young children. Our curriculum will lay the foundation for pupils to understand what the discipline of Science tells us about the world.
Digital Learning
We understand how important it is to prepare our pupils for the future and understanding technology is central to this. Computing is taught in weekly lessons.
Humanities
History, Geography and Religious Education lessons are interactive, interesting and practical. They are designed to inspire questions and explore ways to find the answers.
Languages
Learning a foreign language in depth and studying a foreign culture is invaluable in broadening the mind and teaching pupils to develop their understanding of linguistics.
Music
There are many opportunities for music-making at school. From Reception, Music is a timetabled subject taught by a specialist teacher.
Art and Design
Creativity in all its forms is central to the ethos of Faraday. Children learn to appreciate and value images and artefacts across time and cultures and learn to understand the contexts in which they were made.
Drama and Dance
Drama is timetabled for each year group once a week with a specialist teacher. Drama is exciting, fun and hugely rewarding.
Physical Education
Sport is central to Faraday; lessons are a key part of the curriculum and often take place on the new Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) a few minutes’ walk from the school.
Wellbeing
PSHE teaches children the skills they need to make appropriate decisions about their lives now and in the future. It also encourages children to develop confidence and a sense of responsibility.
Gifted and Talented
We support children of all abilities and are adept at extending those who are exceptionally able.
