Autumn Term 2024

To celebrate World Mental Health Day in October, Faraday became a sea of yellow and you could feel the happiness as it spread around the school.

It is so important for everyone to learn ways to keep their mental health strong, healthy and positive. Every class was given a special yoga session by our visiting yoga teacher, which was a great way to calm down and relax.

Since this, teachers have reminded children to use some of the breathing techniques in class if they find themselves feeling upset or overwhelmed!

Diwali drama workshops with West End in Schools were a big hit with Faraday pupils.

Immersed in the world of The Ramayana, children used soundscape in their storytelling to explore the triumph of good over evil. Children re-enacted the story of Rama and Sita celebrating the origins of Diwali through acting and dance. The theme extended to other lessons as children made Diwali cards, clay lamps (diyaas) and learned how to cut out and fold mini lanterns.

Every class enjoyed visiting the mobile planetarium that was set up on the Wharf in celebration of Science week. Stepping inside the giant inflatable dome with a 180 degree view of the night sky, was a wonderfully immersive experience. It taught children all about space, climate change and sustainability.  The message of making thoughtful sustainable choices tied into other lessons in the curriculum, encouraging children to think creatively and responsibly.
