New Head Teacher Promotions

The New Model School is delighted to announce Claire Murdoch’s move to Faraday’s larger sister school Maple Walk as Head Teacher and is equally delighted that Lucas Motion, currently Deputy Head at Maple Walk will join Faraday as Head Teacher in January 2022.

Mr Motion is well placed to take over the reins at Faraday and is a strong advocate for the school’s ethos, vision and values to provide an outstanding primary education for every child in a caring and nurturing environment.

Dedicated to instilling a love of learning through an inspiring curriculum, he brings with him his passion for, and education in, the arts, English and maths, as well as proven leadership skills.

Mr Motion is a deeply enthusiastic and committed educationalist with extensive experience from Early Years through to his current role as Deputy Head and as a Yr. 6 teacher. Over the years, his pupils have received excellent secondary school offers guided by his sympathetic, clear and kind approach.

Having co-founded a successful new primary school in North London, Mr Motion oversaw the journey from its inception to its Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ rating. More recently he was integral to Maple Walk’s Senior Leadership Team, working across all areas of the school’s provision to achieve the “Excellent in all areas” Independent Schools Inspectorate rating in 2020.

This recognised the pupils’ exceptional academic and personal development reflecting his own balanced approach to promote happy, confident children and help every child fulfil their potential.

Speaking of his appointment as Head of Faraday, Mr Motion, said “Faraday is a school from which happiness, warmth and creativity radiates. I am looking forward to collaborating with the whole school community to deliver a rich and broad curriculum. Together, we will build on Claire’s legacy of providing inspirational learning while prioritising children’s happiness and well-being.”

Claire Murdoch, Head Teacher at Faraday commented; “Having worked with Lucas sharing ideas to enrich the curriculum amongst other joint initiatives, it is clear that he will be a dynamic, inspirational leader whose all- round abilities and positivity will help Faraday to continue to thrive and adapt to future opportunities and challenges.”

Claire Murdoch will, of course, remain as Faraday’s Head Teacher, leading an outstanding SLT and staff until the spring term. In the meantime, there will be plenty of time and opportunities for parents and staff to meet and get to know Mr Motion in the autumn term.
