Art and Design

Children learn to appreciate and value images and artefacts across times and cultures, and learn to understand the contexts in which they were made.

art and design in classIn Art and Design, pupils reflect critically on their own and others' work, judging quality and meaning. They learn to think and act as artists, craftspeople and designers, working creatively and intelligently. They develop an appreciation of art, craft and design, and their role in the creative and cultural industries that enrich their lives.

We aim to encourage the development of imagination, original thought and personal expression.

At Faraday, we are particularly fortunate, because we are located in the thriving artistic community of Trinity Buoy Wharf. We have worked with various artists on the Wharf, including a special project to create a mosaic. Faraday greatly values being able to collaborate on projects taking place within the neighbouring Wharf community.

In 2018, we also took part in the first ever Unity Arts Festival, where all students collaborated on artworks made from recycled materials. Visit our news page to hear more about this event.

In 2021, Faraday took part in its own Landscape of the Year Art competition! To see more entries like the picture below and the finalists - visit our virtual gallery here.

We also hold an annual art exhibition.
